The ioButton LoRaWAN typically achieves a battery life of up to 10 years with three heartbeat messages per day. While the ioButton LTE uses slightly more energy, it can still reach a battery life of up to 10 years when sending one heartbeat message per day.
The ioButton is equipped with a replaceable battery. Both versions use a SAFT LR14500 3.6 V lithium battery, or equivalent.
